Which model for which job, and why model names in DaLAi stay fixed.
Models in DaLAi are offered under a public name, such as claude-sonnet-4-5 or qwen3-coder-480b. These names are ours, not those of the service behind the scenes.
What this means for you in practice: if the service behind a name ever changes, the name stays the same and your code stays untouched. You do not need to know where your request ultimately goes, and you never need to change the model name string in your application.
The full list of models, with live prices, is in Model Square. Here we only talk about choosing between them.
Claude: the strongest option for long texts, multi-step reasoning and precise coding. It comes in three sizes: haiku, fast and cheap; sonnet, balanced; opus, the most expensive and most capable.
Qwen: good Persian coverage and specialized coding options. The qwen3-coder-* models are built for code.
Gemini: Google's models. The newer flash generation is fast and low-cost for everyday work, and gemini-2.5-pro handles reasoning and long documents.
DeepSeek: a very good quality-to-price ratio for general tasks and code.
GLM: general tasks; the flash version is one of the cheapest options available.
Kimi: very long texts.
gpt-oss: open-source models, a good fit when you want to keep costs down.
Devstral: specialized for working on code repositories.
If you are not sure which one to pick, the following works for most users:
coder model or claude-sonnet. There is a dedicated guide in Coding with DaLAi.More expensive is not always better. The largest model costs tens of times as much as the smallest. For simple tasks, that money is spent without getting you better quality.
Try two models on a real task of your own, not a made-up example, and look at Usage Logs. Compare cost and quality side by side. This costs a few thousand toman and will serve you for months.
The Playground in the Console is there for exactly this: you can give the same question to several models without writing any code.
If you want your application to fetch the model list itself:
curl https://dalai.ir/v1/models -H "Authorization: Bearer sk-YOUR-KEY"
Details are in API overview.
